PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Engaging, equipping, and inspiring citizens to improve their quality of life.

Senior Citizens Program                                                                                                                               Seniors seeking opportunities to maintain active lifestyles find such a resource at the Project Zion Family Life Center. The program provides a supportive, caring environment where participants develop a sense of camaraderie and engage in activities that interest them. With additional support, we plan to increase the Seniors’ program from once a week to three days a week. Activities include general and health information sessions, tours, crafts, and technology classes. Seniors will also participate in the Silver Sneakers Program, a health and wellness initiative that emphasizes exercise and nutrition.

Youth Services Summer Day Camp 2023                                                                                                       In partnership with Aletheia House, youth will be provided a safe and structured environment during the summer. They will receive academic enrichment, tutoring, and character education as well as drug prevention and education. After School Program With additional support, we plan to build on the successful partnership with Aletheia House to provide a safe, structured environment for children to receive academic enrichment, tutoring, and character education between the hours of 3pm and 6pm during the school year. Studies show that these are the times when children are more likely to engage in behaviors that lead to delinquency. Children of income eligible families will receive scholarships to cover fees.

Workforce Development & Job Skills Training                                                                                               In collaboration with the US Department of Labor, Project Zion has received laptop computers to assist with workforce development and job training skills. Studies have confirmed that programs of high quality educational and employment options encourage youth to stay in school, attain a GED or high school diploma and then go on to post-secondary education or jobs with career potential is urgent.

Financial Literacy & Homeownership                                                                                                 Financial literacy has proven to be the most powerful antidote to the foreclosure crisis. Persons completing financial literacy courses have the advantage of being educated buyers and will typically select mortgage products that best fit their income and lifestyles. The focus of Project Zion's homebuyer education series is preparing families for the financial responsibility of home ownership. Through a partnership with NACA, a local bank, the Money Smart curriculum will be taught in an eight part series. Classes will be offered on weekends in small settings in the Family Life Center and will be taught by Project Zion staff and community financial professionals.

Class topics include:
